Choosing the right microphone for your room

In this video I talk about the differences between condenser and dynamic microphones and how they are influeneced by the sound of your room and by other factors such as background noise.

The dynamic microphone I use is an Electrovoice ND468 - a great alternative to the classic Shure SM7B which I also highly recommend. Other dynamic microphones I love using on vocals are the Electrovoice RE20 and Beyerdynamic M160 (Ribbon).

The condenser microphone in the video is an Oktavamod 990 which sounds very similar to the legendary Neumann U87. Oktavamod is no longer making or modifying microphones but there are still some great affordable options on the market such as the Rode NT1 (not NT1a), Aston Origin and Audio Technica AT4040.
